Our Process
- Site assessment and coordination with the paving plan. For new construction, we look at how the concrete elements need to align with the asphalt paving plan, checking grades, drainage flow, and where curbs and sidewalks need to tie in.
- Excavation and grading. We excavate and grade the area to the correct depth and slope, since proper drainage starts here, not at the pour.
- Subgrade compaction. We compact a stable subgrade beneath the concrete, the same way we would for an asphalt surface, so the finished concrete has a solid foundation underneath it.
- Formwork. We set forms to define the exact shape and dimensions of the flatwork, sidewalk, or curb and gutter system, making sure they’re level and properly secured before any concrete goes in.
- Pouring. We pour the concrete into the prepared forms, working carefully to avoid trapped air and ensure even distribution.
- Finishing. We screed, float, and edge the concrete to the appropriate finish, adding control joints where needed to manage cracking as the concrete cures.
- Curing and form removal. We allow the concrete to cure before removing forms and opening the area to use, protecting the fresh pour from traffic during that window.

Having the same team handle both means the concrete gets built around the actual finished grade of the asphalt, not a set of drawings that may or may not match what got poured.
We’re upfront that this is a commercial-only service, and it doesn’t include slab work. If your project needs a structural slab, that’s outside our scope, and we’ll tell you that directly rather than taking on work outside what we do well.
